Someone Loves Colleen Salter!

Someone loves Colleen Salter read the note that was in the beautiful bouquet of colorful daisies left on the side of my car when I left work last night. The handwriting was distinctly that of my wonderful husband. My face lit up as I looked around to see if he was hiding in his car somewhere close. But he wasn't, so I ran inside my work and showed the flowers to my boss. Then I rushed home to thank Geoff for being so kind and thoughtful. I'm not sure of the exact reason for the flowers but it is not because he had done anything wrong. I know that it is because he loves me and I have been sick with a cold since Sunday so it was very sweet of him to be so good to me. It didn't end there. He made supper and did all of the dishes. We then relaxed while watching a movie. He told me how nice I looked and how beautiful my eyes are despite the fact that my nose is red and crusty from blowing it all day long. So that someone is my wonderful husband whom I love just as much as he loves me. I hope everyone is having a wonderful day because I sure am!

What a Day!!

Yesterday can be considered as a series of unfortunate events or as Geoff said, When it rains, it pours. Geoff's car wouldn't start in the morning and he had to be at the doctor at 730am. So he took my car and off he went. An hour and 20 minutes later he was back (830am) and I still hadn't left for work. I had called in explaining that I would be late but I didn't think that I would be an hour late. The walk in clinic opened at 730am and Geoff was the 14th person in line. We thought he would have been the first and that it wouldn't take long at all. Whoops. Good thing is, my work is really nice and it was all okay. I just worked through my lunch to make up the difference. So off we go. Geoff drives me to work and then he's off to work.

The day goes by alright and Geoff picks me up at 430pm. We call his auto insurance to give them our new bank account and they say that the next payment will be 170.00 dollars!! Holy smokes!! It was 98.50 and now it's 70 dollars more?? Just because he moved into the city. I don't know about that but that really sucks. Then I go to do the dishes and the water doesn't get hot at all. Geoff mentions that his shower was luke warm the entire time. Oh no. The hot water tank must be busted. Well it turns out that the pilot light is not working and there is no flame. Geoff tries to get it to burn by using a piece of wood and a match. No such luck. It just won't stay lit. So we eat supper and then Geoff tries it again. He figures it out, the pilot thing isn't working properly and voila, the flame is back and heating the water again. One crisis taken care of as we leave for Geoff's parents to fix the car hoping that when we get back the flame will still be burning and that our house won't have burnt down. Oh and Geoff had to run with the car and jump start it by popping the clutch so that we could get it start. Luckily all I had to do was get in after it was already started.

At his parents (oh did I mention that due to Geoff's job his car reaks of the glue that he uses to do decks and we are both practically high by the time we get there) his dad, by some crazy miracle, has all of the parts needed to get Geoff's car running again. Gotta love the in-laws. So we head off for home and our house is still there and we have hot water. I take a hot shower and we go to bed somehow having averted all of the things life throws in our way and feeling blessed by the love of the Lord. Hope you all had a better day!!

Mother's Day

I now have three very important women in my life. My mother, my grandmother and my mother in law. Today is about my mom. My mom is a wonderful woman. She may cry more than most, which I think has been passed down to me (just ask Geoff), but she is blessed spiritually. This is the first year that I will not be at home for mother's day to celebrate with her but I have sent her a card that is sure to produce some tears. Which is good because I love her so very much. She has put up with me now for 27 years, how could I not love her.

So I'd like to share some stories about my mom. She is a fun mom with a different sense of humor than most. For almost a year I would receive a card a month from a secret admirer that was mailed from the city of Winnipeg. I was very curious as to which guy was sending me these cards as anyone who knows me knows how curious I am. I thought it was my boyfriend at the time but as I thanked him for the card he got a little bit upset that someone was sending me cards so I didn't bring that up again. Then I tried to match the handwriting on the envelope with boys I knew at university. No luck. Two more cards and then a present was delivered to where I lived!! And it was exactly what I liked, Anne Geddes stuffed ladybug baby. Well this person must know me well enough to get me such a wonderful present. Once again to the boyfriend which really didn't go over well at all. I showed all of my family at Christmas, bragging about how I had a secret admirer. Yet no one that I told, family, friends, boys I knew, claimed to be the admirer. The cards kept coming right through till June. Now by this time, well actually a couple months earlier, I changed my opinion of the whole situation and began to believe that I was being stalked. No one was fessing up to it and now someone that I didn't know, knew where I lived and stuff. I really don't like being at home alone and one night I remember talking with my parents on the phone as I checked the whole house to make sure that there was no one in the house. Then explaining how these cards were freaking me out and well they kept on coming.

Now it's June and my birthday has arrived. I am at my parents house and open my gifts. Then the card and guess what? It is the last of the secret admirer cards that reveals the person behind it all and low and behold it is my parents!! More specifically my mom. I would love to see the expression on my face when I opened that card. Not for a moment had I ever expected that it would be her. Now my mind flashes back to Christmas, as I bragged about it. And to the phone conversation where I explained how I didn't like the whole thing. They all knew!! My mom had my Auntie Agnes mailing them from the city for her, my cousin Tannis dropped off the present and everyone knew because the family just knows. What a fool I had made out of myself as I am sure that they were all laughing at me and I was none the wiser. Of course my mother would know what I wanted for Christmas or what I would like. Kudos to my mom!

Now for the best funny story that I can remember about my mom. We were on a trip to Alberta for something and it was my parents, me and my aunt Theresa. We stop at the DQ for a treat and to use the bathrooms. Well I run in and into the women's and I know that my mom and aunt both had to go too but they are not in there yet. It just so happens that my mom had to go so bad she didn't care which bathroom she went in and accidentally went into the men's washroom, into the stall and sat down to go. My aunt also having to go really bad just followed her right in. Although, all she was left with was a urinal and said, Betty, this is the men's room! Apparently my mom decided to finish what she had begun, washed her hands and then left.

I am very happy to have my mom in my life. I love her so much. Happy Mother's Day Mom!!
